Jacob and Kathy Southard, owners of JKS Studios, would personally like to welcome you and your child to our studios. We hope you’ll gain trust and confidence in us and our instructors.
We also hope you’ll be satisfied and pleased with your child’s acquired skills and abilities this coming year. Our goal is to provide a valuable service for your child; one that is professional, teaches good quality dance, cheer, and/or tumbling foundation, encourages self-esteem, and helps your child develop respect and confidence. Registration
JKS has an annual registration – $25 nonrefundable fee is due the day of registration along with the first month fee. Families with more than one student are discounted. Registration fee is due in Aug of each year.
1 Child $25.00 2nd Child $15.00 3rd and thereafter Child $5.00
Our School Semester runs just like the school year August through May
Class Fees
Class Fees varies from $35 to $45.00 per month per class. These flat rates will remain the same regardless of absences or scheduled holiday vacations. Tuition is due on the first day of class every month. A $10.00 late fee will be added after the 10th of each month. We ask you to pay with a check each month payable to JKS Studios. This allows you to have a record of your payment. If you prefer to mail your payment, please mail payment to JKS Studios PO Box 476 Caledonia MS, 39740. There will be a “drop box” at the studio that your child can put their envelope in with the payment. Please write your child’s name on the outside of the envelope and seal it. No cash payments will be accepted unless it is personally handed to Jacob or Kathy and a receipt is written at that time. A student who registers is required to fulfill the entire contract. If the student does withdraw, there will be a prorated cancelation fee. All emergencies or Military moves are exempt from this fee. If a parent wishes to withdraw a student from a class, a written letter must be given to our office on or before the 20th of the month prior to the child leaving.
NO Refunds, no exceptions…. Sorry!
Discounts on Tuition – Per month
2 children/ classes per week per family – $10.00 off per month (instead of $70, its $60; or instead of $80 its $70)
3 children/ classes per week per family – $20.00 off per month (instead of $105 its $55 or $120 its $100)
(1st child/class full price, 2nd child/class $10 off, 3+ children/classes $20 off)
JKS Spirit Wear
JKS offers all students and parent Spirit Wear to support our studio. Spirit Wear includes t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, decals, backpacks/duffle bags, and more with JKS Studio logo. Order forms are available in the office. JKS will place orders several times per year. Check for order dates. Payments must be made at the time of order.
Appropriate Dancewear
All students are to wear proper attire according to class(es) taken. Black dance pants or dance shorts, leotard and tights, leotard and biking shorts, dance skirts, etc. are acceptable. Form fitting outfit are needed for dance classes.
NO BLUE JEANS….for any class!
It is important that your child’s hair is pulled up and out of their face.
Dance Shoes
Dance shoes are required for all dance classes. If your child is taking a combination dance class, they will need both ballet slippers and black tap shoes. Dance shoes can be ordered through JKS Studios. Please remember, dance shoes should not fit loosely.
Communication/ Helpful Hints
Information board in the lobby will state most things that go on at JKS. Newsletters will be placed in child’s folder located in lobby and also emailed out to the email we have on file. Please make sure JKS has your correct email address.
Hint #1. Your child will need a carry bag to transport their dance shoes in. They should never wear their tap or ballet shoes outside. Have them come in street shoes and change in the studio.
Hint #2. Mark your child’s belongings, including dance shoes, jackets, coats, etc. Many items get misplaced and we easily can find the owner if their items are marked.
Hint #3. Please have your child bring a filled water bottle to class each week. We work hard and need to re-hydrate. We do have drinking water available, but it is so important to keep your child healthy and replenished.
Lobby
Our Lobby area is limited to space. Please be responsible for cleaning up after your child and family. Students should place their personal belongings in the cubbies provided. Absolutely no children should be left unattended in the lobby or in the parking lot. JKS staff can only be responsible for children in class. If any area of JKS facility needs our attention please let a staff member know.
Snacks and beverages will be available to purchase after class for students and/or to you the parents while waiting. Prices range from $.25 to $2.00. Student accounts are available.
Classroom Visits
We ask that there be no classroom visits. You are welcome to view your child through the one way windows. We have found that students do better and have increased concentration when parents are not a distraction. In addition, no students are allowed in the classroom until class begins. No, food, chewing gum, or beverages are allowed in the classroom. Water is the only exception.
Attendance/Bad Weather
Please be on time! We will do our best to start classes on time. In case of canceled classes due to weather conditions we will call and/or send out an email of the cancellation by 3:00 PM on the day in question
Classes are cancelled when school is cancelled.
If a student is continuously absent to class (other than illness) we reserve the right to: first call and give a warning, second- if they continues to miss – we will give notice whether or not they can perform in the recital or not. It is unfair to us and to the other students to have a student consistently absent.
Code of Conduct
JKS has established a code of conduct, which allows each student to be respected equally. The code of conduct is an effective means to ensuring YOUR child has the best possible educational experience. The following behaviors are not allowed……
Excessive Talking or Disruptions
Running or horseplay
Destruction of Property
Harassment of any Kind
Fighting of any Kind
Students displaying this behavior will be asked to sit out of class. If a student is reprimanded 3 times, a conference with parent and possible student permanently be expelled form JKS for violating the conduct rules. We reserve the right to refuse service to any parent and/or child whose conduct or influence, in the opinion of the owner, is contrary to the best interest of the studio.
Conflicts/ Problems
Please do not interrupt a class to speak with the instructor. You may address any situation to Jacob or Kathy. If we are not available please call us at 662-356-4557 or email us at jksstudios@cableone.net. We will do what we can to handle the situation and/or arrange a time to meet.
Parties
JKS is able to offer Birthday parties for boys and girls. Talk with Jacob or Kathy for details and prices.
Recital
Recital Date and Theme will be posted on bulletin board. We encourage all to participate, however recitals are not mandatory. This is the time students’ showcase what they have been working so hard at all year; and it builds confidence by performing before an audience. We are working very hard to keep the cost down. We will offer payment plans for the recital costs and/or have fundraisers to offset cost.
